Stockings for Soldiers

Mr. Scott is collecting items to be put in stockings and mailed to soldiers in Afghanistan.  The due date for turning in the items is November 29th.  Following is a list of acceptable donation items:


Christmas decorations, reading materials, gum, candy, razors, dvd’s, individual snacks such as nuts, granola bars, beef jerky, instant drink mixes, sunflower seeds, protein bars, cookies, trail mix, rice krispie treats, travel size items such as hand lotion shampoo, conditioner, tooth paste, hand wipes, body wash, deodorant (non aerosol) and hand sanitizer, chap stick, tooth brushes, homemade Christmas cards, basically anything small enough to fit in a shirt pocket is welcomed.

Battle of the Books

We’ll be starting to practice for Battle of the Books on November 21, Thursday in the library. If you are interested in joining please stay after school to form teams. Practice will be every Thursday after school until 4:30. You will be responsible to find your own ride home. There is not an activity bus this year. If you can’t make practices and still want to be on a team, please talk to Mrs. Ludvick so she knows.

Lego Robotics Club


Mr. Dube is starting a Lego robotics club.  The club is open to students in grades 3-8, but only grades 4-8 are allowed to be part of the official competitions.  Third graders are welcome to be part of the club and learn to build and program simple robots.


The club will meet after school on Mondays & Wednesdays until 4:30.  We do not have an activity bus this year so students will need to arrange for their own transportation home.

Elders Sharing Stories

We are inviting the community to join us at 6pm on Monday Nov 11 to listen to some of our local elders sharing stories.  The featured speakers include Paul Boskoffsky, Orville Lind, Martha Johnson and Allan Aspelund.


Quick reminder for students that are signed up for the SAT test to be administered on November 2. Be at the school no later than 8:45.  Calculators are allowed to be used. Bring water and a snack.

Box Tops for Education

Congratulations to the combined K-1st grade on winning the last competition for collecting box tops. They turned in 437 box tops with the combined 4th-5th coming in second with 445 box tops. Thank you to everybody for helping. This collection will bring in about $260.00. This is the largest collection we have had to date. Continue to clip box tops and do your shopping at Every little bit helps to collection money to improve the sound and projection system in our audtorium.

Owl Assembly!

As part of Wildlife Refuge Week next Friday, November 8 at 9am we will have an assembly in the auditorium with a visit from some owls from Bird TLC.  If you can't make it to the school you can also see the presentation at the King Salmon Visitor Center on Saturday Nov 9 from 11-2.

Parent Conferences & Early Release Next Week

Parent conferences will be held on November 5 & 6.  Those days will also be early release days.  On Tuesday November 5 conferences will be from 2:30 - 4:30.  On Wednesday November 6 conferences will be from 6-8.

Live Homework Help Hours Expand

The Digital Pipeline committee is pleased to announce that Live Homework Help’s hours have been extended. It is now open from noon to 2 a.m. This service is available to Alaskan students in grades K-12, intro-level college students, and job seekers looking for help with their resumes. See
