District Policies

The district has just gone through the process of adopting a new board policy manual.

Bristol Bay Borough School Distict Policies are now online!

Last winter a committee of community members worked with Mr. Joseph Reeves of the Association of Alaska School Boards and the Board has been reviewing their work as part of their regular Board Meetings. Throughout this fall and and early winter each section has gone through a first and second reading. The process ended with Board approval of each section and the final document will soon be posted below by section.

The policy manual has 9 sections and each section is focused on a different part or what the school district is responsible for.  While the sections are numbered in a four digit series from 0000-9000, it is important to note that there is no Section 8000 because that is reserved for districts with multiple sites and advisory boards and our district has no advisory boards.

Because this is such a big undertaking, the Board has determined that we will work with community members and staff to go through each section again and to bring recommendations back to the Board for their review and adoption.  That process will span the 2008-2009 and 2009-2010 school years and we hope you will contact us if you would like to serve on one of the review committees or have other advice on any Board Policy concerns.

Copies of the current policy manual, and the recommended final versions (as they are adapted) can be obtained at the Central Office. We encourage the community to be a part of the ongoing review process and participate in our hearings.
